It’s with great pride that I share the news of receiving the Lambic Award from HORAL. This recognition means the world to me, not just personally, but because it celebrates the incredible community of brewers, blenders, café owners, and lambic lovers who make our region so special.
Ambassador for Lambic Culture
When the HORAL board came together to decide on this year’s award, they were looking for someone who promotes our region’s lambic beer culture with heart and soul. I’m honoured they thought of me. Through “Lambic Tours” and “The Land of Geuze”, I’ve had the privilege of sharing our lambic culture with thousands of people from around the world, helping them discover the craftsmanship of our brewers and blenders in the beautiful landscapes of the Zennevallei and Pajottenland.
This mission is a family tradition. The logo of “The Land of Geuze” is a pencil drawing of my grandfather Emiel, a front-line soldier who loved a good glass of geuze. That line of tradition and heritage lives on in what I do today.
What started as a passion project has grown beyond my expectations. Last month alone, our Instagram and Facebook accounts reached over 300k views, a number I’m incredibly proud of. Through these platforms, we’ve connected with an international community of beer lovers who share our appreciation for traditional lambic and geuze.
Supporting Lambic Heritage
I want to take a moment to emphasise something important: while it’s wonderful that people from South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, and the United States of America know about the lambic tradition in the Pajottenland and Zennevallei, we need more local support. It sometimes surprises me that visitors from halfway around the world can name our breweries and blenderies, whilst some locals just two streets away might not know what treasures exist in their own backyard.
Due to current economic circumstances, our lambic breweries and geuze blenderies are facing challenges. That’s why I encourage everyone, locals especially, to visit, support, and celebrate these artisanal producers. Every visit, every purchase makes a difference. And of course, don’t forget about the Toer de Geuze, HORAL’s biggest event! De Toer de Geuze 2026 will take place on Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May.
Thank You!
This award wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration and support of breweries, blenderies, café owners, Toerisme Vlaams-Brabant, and HORAL. My goal has always been simple: to make visitors feel welcome. No “dry” tours, but total experiences filled with cafés, stories, and above all, warmth. I want people to leave not as tourists, but as friends of our beautiful region and its wonderful traditions.
To everyone who has supported “Lambic Tours” and “The Land of Geuze”: thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I can only end this in one way:
Marvellous!
